Hi Kendra,

Just curious if you could share a few ideas for devotionals. I’m thinking of the new year and seeking something for my 14ds, 12ds, and 10dd…and me! Obviously the books don’t need to be the same, but just trying to help them with habits of morning prayer time and not just waking up, quick prayer, downstairs for school, bible study as a ‘thing’ to check off their list. I’m stumbling around and feeling very sad about it :-(

We're loving Lamp and Quill this year. My 13-year-old son, 11-year-old daughter, 9-year-old daughter, 6-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son and I all do the study together. You can read Kate Kessler's excellent review here; it will give you the details.

I'm down to bare bones right now.  Unit studies?  No.  Elaborate crafts? Nope.  Baking cookies in the shape of India? Ummm, no.  So Lamp and Quill is good, solid study of Scripture that isn't dumbed down or overly packed with non-essentials, but it has kept the attention of all of us.  Well, except the 3-year-old does finish his coloring page in about 7 seconds and is ready to move on ;)
