Ideas to Keep Christ in Christmas!

Are you looking for ideas to celebrate Jesus's birth and Advent in a BIG way this year? Want ideas that keep things centered, simple, and celebratory?

Last year I did a whole 10-day series on More Jesus in Christmas. Some fun ideas there, and nothing to overwhelm you. I need realistic expectations that match the reality I live in, but I also want Christmas to be the best celebration it can be. I love the ideas on HGTV, but I can't reproduce a Christmas like that in a home where 10 people hang out all day. Here's to celebrating Christmas in a way that brings us real joy! Affiliate info here

I'm also super excited to point you to a new eBook that is a perfect Advent resource for preschool and elementary kids.Truth in the Tinsel is written to the younger crowd, with a focus on the right thing: Jesus! 24 days of Scripture reading, ornament crafts, talking points and extension activities. Plus fun printables and templates! We'll be using it in our Circle Time this year.

If the celebration of Advent is new to you, Kerry Beck has a great new Christmas Celebrations site and webinar, if you'd like to soak up some great ideas for celebrating Advent this year. She has a free advent calendar and printable, too. Good stuff!

Are you familiar with Shining Dawn Books? These are terrific unit studies on nature and science, and Shining Dawn has an advent book called Nature Study Through the Holidays. From the description: "Advent is a weekly focus on various parts of the Christmas story during the month leading up to Christmas.  For each of these weeks, we have provided you with Scripture references, nature study activities and full-color notebooking pages.  Through nature study, our hope is that you will grow closer to the Lord and His perfect gift, Jesus, this Christmas season."

Looking to grow your own Christmas book collection? Our favorites are listed on this post, and we're always adding to our collection. I'll also be featuring a new post on Christmas books, coming in December. Don't forget that you can always purchase them used and check them out at the library, too!

And I have a board on Pinterest called More Christ in Christmas! I've pinned some good ideas and resources there. Feel free to comment and leave links that you think should be included on the board. I want to see it grow!
