Keeping Track Of All The Socks

Yesterday, after spending five minutes searching for a pair of socks that even remotely fit my 4 year old so we could get him off to preschool, I posted this statement on our Preschoolers And Peace Facebook page:

It’s about time for my annual sock buying. None of my little boys have anything close to socks that fit and/or match. The guinea pigs must have eaten them.

And, once again, the wisdom of our readers flooded through the internet with solutions on how you all answer the perennial question: How To Not Lose All The Socks.  Below, I share with you some of the best answers I received. You're welcome.

  • Each person safety pins their socks together after they take them off. This way they are washed and dried as a pair. When they are needed the safety pin is removed and the cycle continues.

  • Have all sock-wearers put dirty socks into a laundry sweater/lingerie bag. Then all socks are washed and dried together and no stray socks will lose their way.

  • One mom gathered up all the boys' socks one year and threw them away and bought all new socks for them, identical in appearance just different sizes. This way they can just grab two socks and they always look the same. She said that as they get older they are able to distinguish sizes, but until then they don't really care anyway!

Thank you so much to all of our readers for their brilliant ideas!  How do YOU manage the sock problem?
