Books We Love About the California We Love

It's no secret that I love being a born-and-bred Californian. I love the diversity of cultures, the diversity of thought and worldviews, and the diversity of landscape. In less than two-and-a-half hours in any direction, I can be in the majestic giant Sequoias surrounding Yosemite, the historical and hip state capitol, beautiful Spanish missions, numerous gold rush era towns, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, and on the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean. It's a cornucopia here!

We own and we borrow a lot of books about the Golden State, and you can too. California has a history that is both unique and interesting, and even if you'll never do a systematic study of California history, you may enjoy borrowing a few of these titles from the library and reading a chapter book or two to your kids. Eureka!
