This picture has nothing to do with the post, but it's obvious that someone in my family has a biff with Arizona.

I am sitting in the chair in the corner of my bedroom, agonizing over the choices I've made for our upcoming school year. Did I choose the right language arts? Should my second grader be doing more work? Am I requiring too much work? What if we don't finish our Mystery of History book (AGAIN!) this year?

If you are like me, second and third guessing yourself, sit down and listen. Or stand up and listen. I don't care. Just listen. I'm stepping up on my soapbox.

There is no perfect curriculum.

There. I said it. There is no perfect curriculum.

There is a lot of great curricula out there. We have talked many times about some of our favorites. And, yes, it's important to have good material to work with. Ultimately, though, our children learn the most when we're consistent in working with them using whatever it is that we have, providing them opportunities to learn, reading aloud and listening to them read.

And that's all I have to say. I'm writing this more for myself than anyone else, but as I sit here, worrying, I realized that I may not be the only person sitting somewhere, worrying.

Breathe.
